The Centre for Language and Malaysian Studies at the International University of Malaya-Wales is a testimony to our dedication to building future generations of powerful communicators. Over history the English language has advanced to the forefront as one of the most important language mediums around the world. The importance of mastering the English language is quintessential for the learners of today as it enables the bridging of organizations and people on a global scale.
The Intensive English Program (IEP) has been ardently planned to give our students the best exposure to the English language and the most useful tools to succeed as an English language speaker in the competitive world we all live in today. Not only does this program aim to inculcate a more adept use of functional English, it also works on the fundamental aspects of the language such as reading, writing and speaking.
As an international university, IUMW consistently reiterates its commitment to a world class education through its on-campus support services for students undertaking the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examinations. The library is abundant in learning resources for the examination and IUMW also collaborates with the British Council to provide IELTS workshops that rigorously prepare our students to excel in the examinations.
In lieu with subsection 41 (4) and subsection 43 (1) of the Private Higher Educational Institution Act 1996, IUMW also adheres to the provision of compulsory subjects stipulated by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) as part of the undergraduate programmes offered. It is a national standard that Malaysian students are required to get at the very least, a pass in MQA compulsory subjects as a prerequisite for the award of their certificate, diploma or degree by a private higher educational institution. IUMW’s Centre for Language and Malaysian Studies strives to deliver the best teaching practices to our students to ensure the highest success rates with these subjects.
