CENTRE OF FOUNDATION STUDIES’ GLITZ & GLAMOUR NIGHT
We have just welcomed some new students to our ever popular foundation programme! The foundation programme has many unique selling points, not least, its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project. One fantastic example of a successful student CSR project was the recently held Glitz and Glamour Night!
A total of 220 guests attended the Centre of Foundation Studies (CFS) Glitz & Glamour Night 2018, held at the Grand Ballroom, Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The evening was an opportunity to be able to appreciate and highlight the programme’s successful students, and celebrate those students graduating. It was also a chance for CFS to show their appreciation to industry and government agencies for their support during CFS student activities.
In attendance on the night were honorary VVIPs IUMW deputy vice chancellor Stephen Lloyd Griffiths, director of centre of foundation studies Noraidah Mohd Shariff, IUMW’s management team, and industry leaders.
Opening the event was an energetic performance by the Permata Seni Remaja Tari Dancers, from the National Arts & Cultural Department. Guests also received some inspirational insights from Noraidah and Stephen in their respective welcome and officiating speeches. During the prestigious evening, 25 IUMW students from semester 2 and 3 were awarded with certificates of excellence to recognise their academic excellence. Dressed to the nines and treated to a scrumptious buffet fare, the guests were also entertained by a variety of performances courtesy of IUMW’s very own students and The Runaway Band.
For this CSR project, profits from the event were donated to the Alliance of Children with Cerebral Palsy (GAPS). On behalf of the university, Stephen presented a cheque of RM3, 500 to GAPS Malaysia president Rafidah Ahmad. It is hoped the contribution can go some way towards helping the development of children in areas such as physical education, therapy sessions, and necessary equipment and facilities.
A huge congratulations to the Semester 1 Organising Committee, advised by Farah Hida Sharin and assisted by all CFS’s Lecturers. Special thanks also goes to the Sales and Marketing Department, and all the event sponsors, Raman S/O Elangovan, ZAQ Interior and Builders Sdn Bhd, Berjaya TVET College, Radio Televisyen Malaysia, The Runaway Band, and Radio Wanita4U.FM. Without their contribution, the event would not have been the success that it was.
