Unveiling of IUMW Logo by AVISENA

14th October 2018 marks a special day between two organisations from two separate industries, Avisena Specialist Hospital and International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW). One of the main objectives of unveiling the IUMW logo coincides with progress made by Faculty of Health and Social Science to boost Psychology students' learning experience based on industry knowledge combined with classroom learning. Nowadays, academic- healthcare industry partnerships are becoming increasingly robust and collaborative as a result of growing economic volatility, competition from emerging economies and a rapidly evolving technological landscape that has changed the way people work, exchange information and conduct research.

Avisena Specialist Hospital is a fast growing healthcare center in Shah Alam offering a combined spectrum of primary care, specialist services and health wellness programs. Owns and operates by Avisena Holdings Sdn. Bhd., Avisena Specialist Hospital has carved out a growing reputation as an exclusive one stop medical centre for the whole family. Scheduled to open in January 2019, the exclusive 19-storey boutique concept building comprises of 150 beds, 3 Operating Theatres (OT), full fledge ICU, NICU and HDU. Whether experiencing the miracle of childbirth or in need of gynaecological, women's health, paediatric care or other specialised services, AVISENA aspires to bring you personalised boutique healthcare hospital of choice.

Part of the agreement between Avisena and IUMW includes joint workshops and training programmes, as well as joint research and development projects between the two parties. A team of visiting psychologist from Faculty of Health and Social Science is in the progressing stage to set up a Psychology Clinic at Avisena. The Psychology Clinic is expected to delivery psychological services such as assessment, counselling and therapy for adults and children or adolescents who may be experiencing emotional or behavioural problems including anxiety, fears and phobias, depression, stress, and coping with health conditions. Therefore, creating a bridge between the academic and healthcare or clinical community can produce innumerable benefits for both IUMW and Avisena. Possibly the greatest benefits of involving not only multidisciplinary healthcare practitioners, but also students in this joint-collaboration is seems a feasible and worthwhile undertaking.
