What is the International University of Malaya-Wales?

International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW) is an independent university located in Kuala Lumpur that offers bachelors, masters and PhD programmes. IUMW was established base on a mutual partnership between the University of Malaya (UM) and the University of Wales in the UK. Its goal is to become a research-led international university in Malaysia. IUMW aspire to be a Malaysian university recognised internationally for its unique features in teaching and learning, research, social services, and education management. Graduates may, subject to approval, be awarded dual certification conferred by IUMW and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

Are your Foundation Programmes recognised?

Yes, all our programmes are recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

Who are the lecturers in IUMW?

We have our own band of academicians with lecturers from University of Malaya who teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses to both local and international students.

How do I get to IUMW?

We are located at Jalan Tun Ismail (GPS: 3.160276. 101.691676) and easily accessed via public transportation. It is a 10-12 minutes’ walk from the Putra KTM Station and PWTC LRT Station (next to the Sunway Putra Mall).

As an IUMW student, can I use University of Malaya’s facilities?

IUMW provides its students unparalleled resources in support of their studies. All IUMW students have the privilege to access the extensive and popular resources across the University of Malaya: unmatched libraries, sports facilities, laboratories, and other facilities at no cost.

Does IUMW provide accommodation for students?

Off-campus accommodation options ranging from private accommodation to modern shared apartments. It can vary between single, twin-sharing, partly furnished and fully furnished.

All accommodation is reasonably priced and conveniently located close to the campus. Our Student Affair Department will assist you every step of the way offering friendly advice and information to help you find the right place to live. With our extensive range of accommodation, there’s something to suit everyone.

Do we have chance to study in Wales?

Eligible IUMW students can also participate in the study abroad programme which provides students opportunity to study one (1) semester for free at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, in the UK.

Can I work overseas with an Undergraduate or Postgraduate qualification from IUMW?

Absolutely! Our programme are internationally recognised and endorsed by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).
