The Foundation in Science programme at IUMW equips students with the specific knowledge to pursue their degrees in the field of health, science, technology, engineering, mathematics and information technology. With practical exposure and a hands-on learning approach, those pursuing this programme will have a strong grasp of the core science knowledge they will need to excel in their future undertakings.
Students of this programme not only acquire solid basics in the core Science subjects, but are empowered by other relevant skills such as critical thinking, public speaking and presentation techniques. Students will be given plenty of hands-on experience, essential for any student who wishes to excel in the science fields.
Laboratory facilities
Students will have access to the well-equipped science laboratories at the Centre for Foundation Studies in Science (PASUM), Universiti Malaya, to conduct their practical class.

Assessments under the Foundation in Science are varied, and are either based on; full coursework (100%) or a combination of coursework (40 – 60%) and final examination (40 – 60%). Classes are held face-to-face through lectures, tutorials (offline and online), practical classes, discussions, activities (classroom-based or outside-classroom-based) or blended learning. Our students are expected to demonstrate their understanding through several forms of assessment, including but not limited to; examinations, quizzes, reports, projects, and presentations.
Students are expected to undergo three (3) semesters which amounts to 50 credit hours to complete their study.
