Programme Overview


The Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) programme is designed to develop highly skilled graduates with in-depth knowledge of computing technologies and processes. Graduates will be equipped with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience using real-world problems. Students will also be exposed to the latest trends and developments in the world of computing.

The swift developments in computer technology have resulted in ongoing demand for computer science graduates. Our degree in computer science prepares one as a professional, capable of applying the principles of computing, latest technological advancements, and strong analytical & critical thinking skills to solve real time problems. Students leave industry ready, and ready to make an impact in the competitive digital world.

Malaysian Students
  • Pass STPM in science stream, with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.00) in any one (1) Mathematics subject and any one (1) Science/ICT subject; OR
  • Pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Jayyid, and credits in any one (1) Mathematics subject and any one (1) Science/ICT subject; OR
  • Pass UEC with minimum of Grade B in at least five (5) subjects including any one (1) Mathematics subject and any one (1) Science/ICT subject; OR
  • Diploma in Computer Science/ Software Engineering/ Information Technology/ Information Systems or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; OR
  • Diploma in science and technology with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; OR
  • Matriculation/Foundation qualification or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or pass STPM or equivalent with minimum grade C (GP 2.00) in any two (2) subjects AND minimum credits in the following subject at SPM level or equivalent:
    • Additional Mathematics; OR
    • Mathematics and any one (1) science or technology or engineering; AND
  • Fulfil other entry requirements that are recognised by the University Senate
* The candidate is required to take a Mathematics enhancement subject relevant to computer science and pass the subject to be eligible for core subjects.
* The credit requirement at SPM level for candidate with a Matriculation/ Foundation qualification can be waived should the grade obtained at the such qualification is equivalent or higher.
International Students
  • A Level with 2 Principal passes or equivalent, recognised by Malaysian Government or fulfil any other entry requirements that are recognised by the University Senate; AND
  • Minimum Credit in Additional Mathematics in O Level; AND
  • Pass IELTS with minimum Band 5, or TOEFL with a minimum score of 500.
English Competency Requirements
All international students are bound to the English Competency requirement set by the University and the Malaysian Qualification Agency except those who are:
  • From countries where English is the official language; OR
  • From an academic institution which uses English as its main medium of instruction.

Assessments under the Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) are varied, and are either based on; Full coursework (100%) or a combination of coursework (60%) and a final examination (40%). The delivery methods include lectures, tutorials, practical, research projects, seminars, industrial visits etc. Our students are expected to demonstrate their understanding through several forms of assessments, including open/closed book final examinations, practical assessments, quizzes, presentations, class participation, report-writing, mini projects, and research project with project report / viva-voce.

Students are expected to undergo six (6) semesters and one industrial training (minimum of 16 weeks), which amounts to 120 credit hours.
