COMPETITION LAW TALK: ENHANCING THE AWARENESS ON HEALTHY COMPETITION CULTURE TOWARDS CONCUMER’S BENEFITS

On 15th March 2018, over 300 participants consisting of both staff and students of IUMW had the opportunity to attend the Competition Law Talk conducted by the Centre of Foundation Studies and Faculty of Business & Law in collaboration with the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC). It was a great honour to have Dr. Nasarudin bin Abdul Rahman, Member of the Commission, Malaysia Competition Commission to share insightful knowledge on competition law in Malaysia. The audience had the privilege of being exposed to not only on the legal side of the Competition Act 2010 but also the real situation in the business industry. Furthermore, it created awareness among us as consumers on how the act can protect our rights and best interests.

Those who attended the talk were awarded with certificates by Madam Noorliza Abdul Latiff, Head of Corporate Affairs Division, Malaysia Competition Commission. This talk was also joined by IUMW’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Mr. Steve Griffiths, IUMW’s Dean of Faculty Business and Law, Associate Professor Dr. Chong Aik Lee, and the Director of the Centre of Foundation Studies, Madam Noraidah Mohd Shariff.

IUMW would like to congratulate the organising committee led by Madam Farah Hida Sharin and assisted by Madam Raja Ana Torani Raja Mohd Noor for organising this productive talk. Special thanks goes to the Malaysia Competition Commission team, especially to Mr. Nazarul Emran Norin and his team for their efforts and cooperation that made this event a successful one.
