The first aim of the Master of Environment programme is to strengthen a student’s critical understanding of Earth’s ecological resources, processes and functions and the impacts of anthropogenic activities on these resources. The Master of Environmental Management curriculum focuses on the complex relationships among science, management, and policy. The second aim of this programme is to train students from different academic and cultural backgrounds, to possess socially-responsible and equality-conscious leadership capabilities in executing environmentally sustainable projects. 

The objectives of the programme are:

  • To produce graduates with open and interdisciplinary perspectives, which are needed in managing and solving complex environmental problems.
  • To prepare students with ample knowledge on environmental legislation and policy frameworks for effective policymakers and project managers. 
  • To equip students with appropriate research, statistical and geospatial skills needed in environmental management. 

Duration of Study

  • Malaysian Students | 3 semesters (min)
  • International Students | 3 semesters (min) 

 

Malaysian Students

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with minimum CGPA 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by Senate; OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent not meeting CGPA 2.50; can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in relevant field, as accepted by Senate; AND
  • Must sit for IUMW English Placement Test

International Students

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with minimum CGPA 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by Senate; OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent not meeting CGPA 2.50; can be accepted subject to a minimum five (5) years working experience in relevant field, as accepted by Senate; AND
  • Pass IELTS with Band 6.5 or better, or TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 or IUMW Intensive English Programme or equivalent; AND
  • Must sit for IUMW English Placement Test
