Programme Overview

Our professional communication students will gain ample exposure to real-world practices with real-world practitioners within the field. Through meticulously designed projects, industrial training and frequent seminars by notable speakers, a holistic education is part of our students’ development.

The programme is designed to enhance student’s versatility on the knowledge and skill set required in the professional field of media and communication. Students will be exposed to industry practices and have hands-on experience of working with real-life industry pitches, projects, and assignments.

We aim to produce graduates who are industry ready, who can make a positive impact on any organisation as soon as they begin their chosen career.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Malaysian Students
  • Pass Matriculation under the Ministry of Education with at least a CGPA of 2.00 or equivalent; OR
  • Pass IUMW Foundation Studies or equivalent; OR
  • Possess a Diploma (minimum CGPA of 2.00) or any other qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government; OR
  • Pass STPM with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in three (3) subjects or equivalent; OR
  • Pass UEC with minimum of Grade B in at least five (5) subjects; OR
  • Fulfill other entry requirements that are recognised by the University Senate; AND
  • Must sit for IUMW English Placement Test
+ Minimum three (3) credits in SPM are required for PTPTN application
International Students
  • Pass A-Level with 2 principal passes or equivalent, recognised by the Malaysian Government; AND
  • Pass IELTS with minimum Band 5, or TOEFL with a minimum score of 500; OR
  • Must sit for IUMW English Placement Test

ASSESSMENT

All Bachelor of Professional Communication (Hons) students are assessed through either full coursework (100%) or a combination of coursework (60%) and final examination (40%). Classes are held in the form of face-to-face, which includes lectures and tutorials (offline and online). Our students are expected to demonstrate their understanding in several forms of assessment, including but not limited to; examinations, quizzes, reports, projects, presentations, and exhibitions.

Students are expected to undergo six (6) semesters and one industrial training (12 weeks) which amounts to 124 credit hours.
